Preparation
- Heat the skillet. Place a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
- Butter the bread. Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread.
- Place the first slices. Once the skillet is hot, place two slices of bread buttered-side down.
- Add caramel and brie. Spread caramel sauce on the bread, then top each sandwich with an ounce of brie cheese.
- Add apple and more caramel. Layer apple slices on top, drizzle with more caramel, and add the remaining ounce of brie for each sandwich.
- Cover with bread. Spread caramel on the top slice of bread and place it on the sandwiches.
- Grill the sandwiches. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted, flipping halfway through.
Notes
Use room temperature brie for easier melting. Experiment with different apples for varying sweetness and crunch. Reheat in a skillet over low heat to melt the cheese and crisp the bread.
